September Is Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month and ORANGE is the symbolic color of hunger.  Feeding America, and its 200 member food banks, including Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, will ask people to join us in raising awareness about the 1 in 6 Americans who struggle with hunger.

The Food Bank will be “Painting the Valley Orange” throughout the month to raise awareness about hunger here in our own community and we need your help!

The following is a few of the ways you can help:

  • Hold a food drive and/or fundraiser.
  • Brown Bag Day – pack your lunch and donate what you would have spent that day to the Food Bank.
  • Donate your Facebook status, by posting a local hunger statistic, for example:

1 in 4 children are at risk for hunger in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
