Financial Donations
For every $1 given, the Food Bank distributes $15 worth of food to hungry people through church pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens, shelters for battered women and after school programs in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Conduct a Food and Funds Drive
Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and depends on donations of food and funds to meet the needs of our friends and neighbors.
To collect food and/or funds for Second Harvest Food Bank:
- Your food and funds drive must be registered with the Food Bank. Please click here to download the food and funds drive registration form. Food and funds drive registration forms must be submitted to Rita Brady via e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. - All food drives and events must be approved by the Food Bank. Materials, questions and inquiries may be directed to Shirley Matula or Donna Hageman at 330.792.5522 ext. 17.
- Collection boxes and barrels are available at the Food Bank. Collection materials must be picked up from and returned to the Food Bank.
- Food and funds collected must be delivered to the Food Bank located at 2805 Salt Springs Road in Youngstown at the conclusion of the drive, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Bagful or truckload, food donations provide meals to local families. The Food Bank accepts all non-perishable food items. A list of our most needed food items are as follows:
- Peanut butter
- Cereal
- Canned vegetables
- Tuna fish
- Dry pasta
- Canned soup
- Macaroni and cheese
Food Donation Drop-off Locations
Whether it's a bagful or a truckload, your food donations provide meals to local families that need them. Every box of rice, can of soup, or bag of beans makes a difference!
Volunteer Opportunities
The Food Bank is a volunteer dependent organization where your skills and talent are needed and will be put to good use. Volunteers are needed to sort and re-box food in the warehouse, help in the office, answer phones, or work on special projects like Taste of the Valley and Harvest for Hunger.
You may volunteer Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 or Saturday mornings from 9:00 to noon.
